Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Tenure track assistant professor in Food chain modelling and analysis with emphasis on animal nutrition, health and welfare in the green transition from March 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position

We seek a candidate with a solid background in modelling biological systems for assessing effects on climate and sustainability of animal-based production and processing and with emphasis on animal nutrition, health and welfare.

Experience with modelling and applying life cycle assessment methods will be preferred.

Research tasks

The focus of the position is on:

Based on ANIVET’s core research areas of animal nutrition, health and welfare, the position should integrate knowledge on nutrient emissions ( N and P) and climate impact as well as consequences for animal welfare and health into life cycle assessment frameworks

Modelling the effects of novel research results on the green transition

Assessment of strategies for improvements in the environment and animal welfare, and for mitigating antimicrobial usage and resistance, and their consequences on the economy and the green transition.

The research will be coordinated with related work in other Departments at the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

The candidate will also have to:

Take responsibility for teaching and supervision of students at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels.

Technical Sciences Tenure Track

As part of the Aarhus University Tenure Track Programme, the University carries out a mid-way evaluation to review the progress of the tenure track candidate after three years, according to the same criteria used in the final tenure review.

The final tenure review is conducted after five and a half years.

If the review is positive, the candidate will be offered a tenured position as Associate Professor at Aarhus University.

The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement.

The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
