Position Summary The role will involve surveying our clients’ facilities in various industries to evaluate the Fire and associated perils and where appropriate, submitting recommendations to reduce the likelihood of losses. Suitably trained or experienced engineers may be requested to complete similar machinery integrity/B&M surveys assessing maintenance and reliability programs, including spares inventories, for key machinery and equipment. A summary of the typical qualification levels is summarized below. This specific role requires experience of mining and chemical industries. SCOPE • Provide services to clients including training, manual and program development, code or regulatory interpretation, supervision when requested. • Work assigned is typically of a higher technical need, as well as being in direct contact with upper client management including risk managers, financial managers, corporate engineers and other decision makers. • Proficiency in at least one high-risk industry specialty or working towards a specialty. QUALIFICATIONS • May hold certifications such as Professional Engineer or a commission issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, including state endorsements, or be working towards such designations. • Four-year college degree in an engineering curriculum combined with five years’ loss control industry- specific experience, or a combination of seven years’ loss control industry specific experience in combination with heavy-industrial and/or military engineering training. • Experience in servicing major accounts in either a preferred-consultant capacity or as an Account Engineer. TECHNICAL SKILLS • Ability and knowledge to train other consultants. • Advanced technical writing skills. • Possess advanced technical skills such as electrical, mechanical, or industry-specific specialization. • Has cross-discipline knowledge of other core services offered by the company. • Provide realistic and concise technical input to clients to assist in our clients’ business decision-making process. • Be technically competent to discuss all core services, and to effectively communicate the same in writing. • Have at least one area of specific technical expertise compatible with core services. • Be familiar with various preventive and predictive maintenance programs and procedures for various electrical, mechanical, and pressurized systems and components. • Be familiar with various non-destructive testing/examination programs and procedures (NDT/E) necessary to determine the condition of systems and components noted in the previous paragraph. GENERAL DUTIES • Conducts Loss Control Surveys for prospects and clients as assigned. • Provides Peer Review of client reports and correspondence. • Assists with or completes training of other consultants • May be asked to make presentations to clients, industry groups, or the public • Participates in assigned sales and marketing efforts. SPECIFIC DUTIES • May prepare and present proposals. • Serves as an internal technical resource to other company colleagues. ACCOUNTABILITY • Performs peer reviews. • May prepare proposals or programs for either internal or external requirements at the direction of the Global B&M Manager; or a designated (by the Manager) Account Engineer, Focus Group Leader, or another. RESPONSIBILITY • Solicits client feedback when requested. • May critique reports of other consultants and inform appropriate management personnel of potential technical problems.
